Back to work tomorrow! Gotta figure out the new normal, now. Last time I worked, I was e-pumping. It's been 11 days since Zoey had a bottle. I'm hoping I can get away with not pumping at work, although I think I'm going to leak if I try that...

Just don't forget extra pads and shirts! Your body will adjust eventually and you'll be happier for it. my BFF somehow never pumped at work and her body adjusted well after a few days. I was never any good with the pump....keep on being the milking rock star you are LeeAnn!

how'd it go today???

leeann38 01-05-2013 12:11 PM

It's going great! Although she started waking up at night again. I think she's missing me. LOL I've worked to hard to quit now, so I'll just roll with it. Still able to pump extra every day. Freezer stash is up over 600 ounces - which is almost a month of milk for her if I completely stopped today (which I'm NOT doing!). Yay, boobies!!! hahaha

leeann- it's so hard going from having a STTN baby to a non-STTN baby! Hope she finds a better time to snuggle with momma!

afm- i'm really torn on what to do. my supply took a hit last month, and i've not been able to build it up. i'm not doing/willing to do herbs, teas, foods, etc to try either. I think it's been a full 2m if not longer since he actally nursed-- and it's not bc i never offer. I was going to wait until the 6m mark (9d from now) to reorganize my deep freezer to make room. however now my plan is to go ahead and reorganize and get an official count on where i'm at. I'm going to figure up how much he can have a day til age 1 if I were to be DONE now. (and at this point i'm barely freezing anything a day) if i'm happy with the number-- I'll start weaning and be done by the first part of Feb. If I'm not happy, i'll try to go on to March. I don't know what I consider a good number at this point. I'm pretty sure I have enough for 12oz a day, but would like the number to be closer to 16oz a day.

My work schedule has been crazy and I'm only getting to pump 3-4 times a day M-F and 5 on S&S. Usually. And some of the sessions are just completely stressful with everything going on in the house/at work. I'm also waking up earlier than need be so that I can pump before dh leaves for work bc if he's not home and Jacob wakes up... i have to stop.

The extra sleep, wanting to lose weight, less stress, lack of supply (compared to where it was) is just really building up. it also doesn't help that he EATS a LOT!!! Last night before bed we fed him 4oz. Still hungry. Fed another 4oz. Still hungry. Gave him another 4 which he ate 2oz of. That's 10oz at that one feeding!!! And he usually eats 6-7oz/feeding at other times.

i know when I started I was worried about pumping so much, and I've done better than I thought I would. But still. When you're here and in the middle of it... there's not a right or wrong really. it's more where the pros vs the cons are.

I totally missed this thread, oops! lol.

pjs, He's a hungry boy!! Violet is already eating 3 ounces at a time, which seems like a lot to me. Sometimes she'll just have 2, but it's usually the full 3.
And way to go for e-pumping for so long. I HATE it, but keep making myself do it. I hope you have enough to be able to be DONE!

So today I did an experiment and gave her all formula to see if I noticed a difference with her reflux symptoms. She's actually spitting up less. I don't know if that's a coincidence or not, but we'll see how she does tomorrow. We also got some meds for reflux and we got one dose in her tonight. Hopefully that will help! I'm wondering too if something I'm eating made her have those problems. I've been saving all my pumping today and am at almost 5 ounces. So I'm averaging two full feedings a day of breast milk. Better than what I was doing with Cora! I'll start giving her breast milk again tomorrow morning and see how she does. She'll have two bottles in a row, possibly three.

chelsea- when Jacob was 4/5days old he had 5oz in one feeding! :) he never did drink just 2oz/time... he started at 3-4! glad you were able to get some meds for DD. They usually have pretty instant improvement/results! usually if it's mommy's milk that is causing problems the number one cuplrit is milk. i know i'd be tortured if i had to cut out milk/dairy!

pjs3902 01-14-2013 06:57 AM

I have DECIDED! :)

I've cut back to pumping 3x's a day. Once we get to the 17th and Jacob is officially 6m, I'm going to officially wean, and hopefully be done within the next few wks.

I never did get down to get an exact head count on my milk in the freezer, but I KNOW I will have over 12/day for him until we get to the 1 yr mark. So we'll start each morning with 4oz, then fill up on formula. Do 4oz a day at the sitters (whenever he seems hungriest) and start the bedtime feeding with 4oz of bm and top off with formula. And the best part is, I'm really *okay* with this!!

leeann38 01-18-2013 04:31 PM

Sounds like a plan, Pam! As long as you are happy, then that is all that matters!!!
