Northern California???

I'm new to this board but not to having PCOS. I was diagnosed about four years ago but haven't really actively worked on changing my lifestyle in that time. Over the last year I have gained a substantial amount of weight and have realized I really need to start taking care of myself because having PCOS is real and will continue to effect me regardless of if I acknowledge it or not. I was surprised to find that there isn't already a group threat or support group in Northern California. I live in Santa Rosa which is about an hour North of San Francisco. I was wondering if there are any other ladies from Northern California who would be interested and/or benefit from forming a PCOS support group or at the very least a thread on this site? I'd love to hear feedback from any interested women. I know I could really use some support and/or guidance as I begin to really make lifestyle changes. There are so many amazing women on this site, I am grateful I stumbled upon it.

Hi I live in Washington for the remainder of my Senior year but am moving back to Cali the Summer of 2010. I began showing signs of PCOS about three years ago and only got diagnosed this past Friday. I have lived in Cali for 16 years and this forum interests me more than the Washington one. I live in Manteca, Ca btw and is it okay with everyone if I join this one?

my name is jamie, im 24 years old and live in stockton, ca. I found out I had PCOS when I was 16. At that time the doctor was very unclear of what my future would be like, it seemed as if he barely knew how to answer any of my questions and his quick fix to the problem was birth control and I was sent out the door unknowing that birth control is not the way to actually fix the situation. so as time went on I took myself off the pill because my long term goal is to heal, not mask the problem. Every day seems to be getting worse, the only information I know is what I read from the internet and there is really no clear answer but still Im learning alot. But with no health care whats a girl to really do? so im looking for natural remedies and some support in my general area. Its extremely unbelievable how PCOS effects my whole life and I need to start making changes before I loose this battle completely. I really feel people need to be educated on this problem and it should be taken very seriously, not just for my own sake but for the sake of every family that has a loved one suffering from this, its your mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts. If any one here can help or point me in the right direction I would be ever so greatful, and thanks for reading my story.

I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago (after i looked up my own symptoms and informed my doctor). I had gone with symotoms for 13 years without being diagnosed officially....i was just put on birth control at the age of 14 because i had consistant bleeding. At 25 i went an entire year without a cycle and after researching about this in combination with other classic symtoms i was able to figure out what was going on with me. Now as i have reached the age of 30 i am worried about infertility and obviously PCOS plays a big part in that. That being said i am interested in being in a Nor cal support group.
