Hi! Does anyone know of an endocrinologist who specializes in PCOS? I live in the Baton Rouge area but would travel if necessary. I've battled w/ PCOS for years and had to pull PCOS info out of the various doctors I've seen. I tried metformin years ago...can't remember why it was discontinued. Long story short, I am now facing a complete hysterectomy. I know that the hysto will not improve the PCOS so I need to find a really knowledgeable endo doc who can help me sort out the insulin resistence issues and other hormone problems. Thanks

Dr. Storment in Lafayette is the best. Here's a link to his website: http://www.fertilityanswers.com/

I'm from the Lafayette area, was Dx w/ PCOS in 2007 after I had DD. I've been on pometium to regulate my periods, which worked well for a few months and the last 2 months AF didn't come until 2 weeks after my last pill.(anyone else use it for this and had this problem?) We've been TTC for almost 8 months now, and my Dr is starting me on clomid this month...so now just waiting for AF. Anyone who's seen Dr. Storment..how was your experience w/ him?

Deeb - I never used prometrium to regulate so I can help you with that. But Dr. Storment and his staff are great! Everyone is so nice and helpful. They made me feel like they were there for me. My insurance doesn't cover infertilty and his fees sound like a lot of money, but if you look at what you get for the entire month, it really isn't bad. It took us two rounds of injectibles to get my DD. I ended up with OHSS after the second round and they took excellent care of me. I have no complaints! I LOVE my OBGYN but definitely wish I had skipped the treatments with him and went to Dr. Storment sooner.

Laceysmom- sorry to reply SO late! Thanks for the info. I have since asked my OBGYN to refer me to Dr. Storment; my appt isn't for another month, but I guess I can wait if he's as promising as his website reviews show. Who is your OBGYN?(if you don't mind me asking, I'm not very impressed w/ mine) Do you have the insulin resistance PCOS or thin PCOS? To my understanding I have thin PCOS(OBGYN doesn't answer my questions about it & makes me feel like a nuisance!) I have had 1 cycle of clomid(in November, & havent had AF since. I'm just nervous, b/c I have odd symptoms(for me), like heavy watery discharge all day, everyday.(I'm currently taking boric acid suppositories for this). I guess I'm just worried and new to all of these symptoms(including no period for 3 months!) ANY help/advice or your story, would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I use an OBGYN in Lake Charles and don't know of any in Lafayette. I could get some recommendations for you though. I went thru several cycles of clomid with only one cycle resulting in a pregnancy but ended up miscarrying. Then I was referred to Storment. It took me a while to get into see him so you are lucky your appointment is only a month away. I don't have many symptoms other than the lack of a period. So my only advice is to wait for Storment and just be patient. Once you get to him, you'll get a lot of your questions answered.

Hello all, I am from the New Orleans area, and was diagnosed with PCOS in 2009 while living in Virginia. Since moving back home to La, I have been unable to find any OB/GYN with any PCOS knowledge. I have not been on any meds, or under any true doctors care for the PCOS. We have not been TTC, but just this weekend found out we are expecting. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good OB/GYN in the New Orleans area? I have an appointment with a new doctor on Thursday to confirm the pregnancy, but do not know much about this guy, other than he was recommended by my insurance as having some potential knowledge with PCOS.

Question Looking for a doctor for PCOS in Central Louisiana

I am new here - I live in the Central Louisiana area and I am looking for an endocrinologist for my PCOS. I recently had a baby and I'm not looking for a fertility specialist - can I still see Dr. Storment? It seems as though this area is lacking in doctors who even know what PCOS is...
