I'm sorry for my comment about companies cutting corners - I was just responding to earlier comments. I do realize how hard pharmaceutical companies work and of course NO company is going to knowingly produce harmful or incorrect medications.

But I would also like to say, like I did with the formula debate, that the vast majority of people only buy name brand medications and formula. Maybe not as much with expensive prescriptions after they are available generic (because who has $150 laying around for an antibiotic?) but for stuff like Tylenol or Zyrtec or Similac, many people only want the "real" thing. Aside from people on this message board, I would say that 90% of the moms I see out there in person are buying name brand EVERYTHING, especially with formula. But the fact of the matter is that while we understand why the big companies have to charge more (research, etc) that some people have to live paycheck to paycheck and that the generic option is often what makes best financial sense. It's nothing against the big companies, it's just about money.

So dh just went to target to get Owen some chewables to replace the motrin that was recalled...and he said the pharmacist there said ONLY tylenol had been recalled!!! He called me about it and I told him that even Motrin's website has it listed!!

You would think the pharmacist would know this....

i work for Johnson & Johnson - the parent compant of McNeil, which manufactures all the consumer products on the list.

the recall is because some lots may be super- or sub-potent, but not by much. specs were barely out, but it is the ethical and right thing to do.

any adverse effects from such dosing will be extremeyl rare, and if you've already administered to your child and seen no ill effects, then there is nothing to worry about.

i'm with BBMK2 on the branded versus generic, so i'll reserve comment on that. if you have any more question, you can PM me.

and yes, return your meds ot the pharmacy. the pharmacy will give you a refund. the company refunds the pharmacies in these kinds of situations.

I had two boxes of Motrin that are recalled, the 198-01 numbers. Opened them and the bottles inside have a different NDC, 198-11, which is not recalled. SO, you can have bottles that look "safe" but originally came in boxes saying they're not. Be careful, Ladies!

And ALL my Tylenol is crap. Even bottles I bought LAST YEAR.

Call this number and list your affected products to get a refund - 1-888-222-6036

Jessi - You left a number off accidentally... would you mind reposting the phone number?

my motrim is not recalled, but it ends in 198-01. I checked on their website and I got the message that is not recalled.

Very first one on the list - NDC Code: 50580-198-01

Plus, if you call that phone number I posted above and read them the NDC numbers, they will tell you if it's recalled or not.

Full list can be found on their press release, image copied below:

The tylenol I have is recalled. Based on the chart motrim is too. I called the pharmacy and they will give me store credit because I do not have the receipt anymore.

Cristina I'm glad they're giving you store credit.

When I talked to the Motrin people on the phone today, they said they're issuing "checks" for my faulty Motrin and Tylenol so I can replace them later. They also said they're not making more right now, so it may be awhile before I can replace them. Guess we might be going generic for awhile? lol
